Yesterday took place at the Department of Social Medicine and Epidemiology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rijeka (Croatia), the III Transnational Meeting of the eEarlyCare-T project co-financed by the European Union and led by the University of Burgos, which has as final objective the specialization of professionals related to early care in ages 0-6 years.
International meeting in Burgos
The project partners discussed in Croatia the preparation of the II Multiplier Event to be held at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Burgos on 2 and 3 October 2024. Conceived as a scientific conference, under the title 1st International Conference on Early Care and Technology in the 21st Century, it will be free of charge and registration is already open.
The inaugural conference, "Early Intervention: challenges in the Society of the 21st Century", will be given by the Professor of Development Psychology of the University of Valencia, Dr Francisco Alcantud Marin, a reference in the field of early intervention; and the closing conference, "Digital Transformation in Health Sciences: challenges and opportunities", by Dr Francisco José García Peñalvo, Professor of Computer Science and Automation at the University of Salamanca, an expert in digital transformation applied to Health Sciences and Education.
In addition, the intellectual outputs of the eEarlyCare-T project will be presented in practical workshops.
Those interested in presenting papers in poster format will be able to do so until 28 June. All information on this international meeting is available on the website.
Prior to this international meeting will be held, also at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Burgos, the Learning Activities Conference (C2), on 4, 5 and 6 June 2024, the organisation of which was discussed at the meeting, along with other topics such as the financial aspects of the project.
Second intellectual product
The meeting also served to report on the development of the second intellectual product, which consists of twelve virtual simulation laboratories, comprising the simulated resolution of practical cases related to: prematurity, maturational delay, communication and language problems, West Syndrome, cerebral palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder and brain damage in children aged 0-6 years.
In addition, simulation laboratories have been incorporated to provide practical examples of the use of integrated multi-channel eye tracking technology, the use of behavioural observation techniques, the use of Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence techniques and the design of chatbot-like conversational agents, all of which are applied to early intervention.
These laboratories are currently available in Spanish and English and will soon be accessible for use in the project's Virtual Classroom.
Finally, participants discussed the importance of dissemination of the project's actions and results. All of them can be consulted in the project website in the "news" section, in the news disseminated by the UBU Communication Office, in social networks such as X (@eEarlyCareT1) and Instagram (eearlycaret) and in the YouTube channel of the project, and in the website of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rijeka (Croatia).

About eEarlyCare-T
The project "Specialized and updated training supporting advance technologies for early childhood" (eEarlyCare-T) is integrated by researchers from three European universities (University of Burgos, University of Roma Tre (Italy) and Croatian University of Sveuciliste u Rijeci), with the participation of the Spanish companies Gestionet Multimedia S.L. and Kveloce I+D+i.
This is an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and innovative project focused on updating the training of practising professionals and new professionals in the field of early childhood care (ages 0-6 years). The training activities apply innovative teaching methodologies based on the use of different technological resources (avatars, gamification, simulation laboratories and virtual reality). In addition, the entire training process is carried out within a virtual learning environment (VLE) that implements different tools that allow the user to self-evaluate and personalise learning.
